Our Team 2012

19th December 2011

It’s a thrilling time for London building up to the Olympic Games, and at The Edge we’re very excited to be involved in all sorts of ways.  Firstly, we feel very honoured to be affiliated with Our Team 2012- an initiative for UK SME’s to support British athletes on their journey towards the London Olympic Games.  Being part of Our Team 2012 offers us unique access to the athletes, as well as many other tangible benefits– including hospitality packages to the Games themselves. Team 2012 draws very relevant parallels between athletes and small businesses like ours, such as dedicating yourself to a goal, being disciplined about your effort, working as a team, enjoying success when it happens etc. and this is being skilfully communicated to our employees through the experiences with the Team 2012 seminars.

The networking opportunities have also been very rewarding, in the last few months we’ve attended events at The House of Lords, The Aviva London Athletics Grand Prix at Crystal Palace and Lord’s Cricket Ground.  Not only does this association give The Edge a legitimate link to the Olympic Games, but it’s also been great for internal morale and has fostered a sense of company-wide pride at being able to support British Athletes on their journey to the Olympics.

We’re also in the process of producing our first London 2012 Olympic-related film for the organising authorities.  Sponsored by TfL, our film will act as a useful tool for SME’s to help them prepare for the disruption the Olympics will bring. The aim is to offer practical and positive advice to help organisations adapt and manage essential travel.  Many large organisations have been planning this for months already – and it's an issue we also need to get our heads around!  Look out for the film from TfL!
