Meet the Team - Momina
15th February 2011I’m Momina, I’m a runner and I’ve been at The Edge for 7 months!
The Edge’s reputation precedes itself and so I approached my first day with slight trepidation, fortunately this all went away within the first hour! At such an established company I never thought I’d feel so welcomed, looked after and included, and have since come to realise that this is The Edge’s secret ingredient to success! From day one, everyone was so accessible and friendly from Board Members to Production Assistants. It sounds cheesy, but it really is like a family, which certainly makes the job easier and a lot more fun!
The favourite part of my job has to be the shoots. As runners we’re involved in all aspects of production from casting and location recces to buying props and costumes to filming. Runners also have the opportunity to shoot all over the world – which is such a rarity. Some days are long, but there is such variety to what we do it goes so quickly.
I’ve also been lucky enough to spend some time in the Edge’s Post- Production department, working on processes such as duplication, digitising and liaising with clients which gave me a great insight into the whole process.
I’m pushed daily to my full potential, whether employing skills acquired since being at The Edge, or using other talents in my skillset. The Edge does a lot of work in the Middle East and I speak Arabic, so this has really allowed me to utilize my skills by helping out with translations and last-minute changes. It’s so rewarding knowing that my input counts.
The knowledge I’m gaining every day is indispensable and knowing that I’m on a career path and not seen as another disposable runner/ coffee maker, like so many other production companies, is so satisfying. I’ve been given the opportunity to work with people at all levels and from all walks of life from make-up artists to animal trainers and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at The Edge!
