Strategic Communication Management Summit, Melcrum
Melcrum's Annual Strategic Communication Management summit was attended by the cream of internal communication specialists, who gathered to hear the latest in terms of strategies, research and practical tools for communicators.
Pete's presentation addressed how the power of moving images helped bring to life a business critical internal campaign. The implementation of a new, fully-automated stock management system was an essential part of B&Q's business strategy, but it depended on a significant shift in awareness and attitude within the workforce.
Using reality TV style videos, Stock Idol searched for the ideal Stock Management Champion by holding an Audition for 72 people and an Academy for 12 finalists, putting the final vote to the audience of 36,000 B&Q staff. Stock Idol far exceeded expectations, achieving votes of over 75% even after discounting excessive voting in some stores!
Stock Idol has delivered £2 million per annum in cost savings which has been reallocated to improve Customer Service. SAP RF has now been introduced and the campaign went on to win an Industry Award for Effective Communication at the IVCA awards.
